Parent Newsletter - May 2016

Dear Parents/Guardians & Families:

Its incredible how fast time flies, we have less than 40 days of learning here at IS 339. It’s very important for your child to keep attending school. By making school attendance a priority it will help your children to learn the good work and study habits that will serve them well now and throughout their lives. Attendance is extremely important. Your child cannot learn if they are not here each and every day. If you get a phone call from our school messenger, please realize that we want to make sure that you are aware of the student’s absence or lateness. It is our goal to work with you on making sure that your child is in school every day.

8th grade parents you have 36 days until graduation and time is running out to pay for your child senior dues. It’s a beautiful experience and we don’t want your child to missed it. If you have any question or will like any additional information feel free to get in contact with Ms. Ross-Barry (718) 583-6767 ext 318.  Parents also be advised that Saturday academy is running for all 8th grade students only. Saturday academy hours are from 8:30am to 1pm  We are focusing on Science State test that the students are taking from May 25th - June 2nd.

Report cards were distributed on Wednesday  May 6th Third marking period grades and report cards will be issued during Parent/Teacher conferences, which will be held on May 11, 2016 the evening session is from 4:30-7:30PM By parents attending this conference it helps to communicate to parents the areas their child are excelling in and to give them specific ideas of how to improve upon their child’s performance in school. Teacher parent conferences are used as a platform in creating a lasting bond with the parent and school in order to increase the likelihood of academic success for their child.
